Clack 1.5 Cubic Foot (10x54) Vortech Tank Non Backwashing Acid Neutralizer
About the Clack 1.5 Cubic Foot Upflow Acid Neutralizer Vortech Tank & Calcite
The non backwashing (or upflow) acid neutralizer does not require a drain line or electricity. It can easily be installed anywhere.
We recommend installing the unit in the upflow mode. That means as you use water, it travels down the center distributor tube and up through the media bed, just as if it were being backwashed. The upward motion of water through the media bed eliminates channeling and solidification of the calcite media, while at the same time does not waste any water like a backwashing system.
Backwashing systems on average discharge 100-150 gallons during the backwash cycle - which typically goes into your septic system. The upflow system is the most effective, efficient and safest way to raise your PH level in your household water supply.
Along with the Non-Backwashing Clack 1.5 Cubic Foot (10x54) Vortech Tank Acid Neutralizer, a fill funnel, a service funnel, and three (3) bags of calcite media. The 1.5 cubic foot acid neutralizer tank dimensions are 54" tall (58" with control valve) and 10" in diameter.
The Clack C1190 control valve is non-backwashing, meaning it doesn't require any electricity or a drain line. It also comes with a built-in bypass with single ball valves that lets you control the flow coming into the unit and going out of the neutralizer. Also, it has 1" threaded male adapter connections that rotate 365 degrees, which makes installation much easier.
Why Vortech?
Vortech distribution systems utilize a more efficient distributor plate design to reduce water usage and improve system efficiency compared to traditional cone and gravel systems. This unique design when used as an upflow acid neutralizer eliminates channeling, eliminates solidification and allows greater contact time with the calcite media bed.
The vortech tank has a molded platform at the bottom which is capable of supporting up to 6500 lbs. The platform has tiny slits cut into it which allows water to pass through at a high flow rate and in a circular direction which eliminates channeling of the media bed. You do not have to worry about using gravel to bed the system like traditional acid neutralizer gravel bedded tanks.

Arrived within 5 days
Simple setup, works as designed, though i wished i would have gotten the Corosex mixture as my ph is still a bit low but it did come up. My fault not theirs. No loss in water pressure, works great.
Great product even better customer service
Quick shipping. Easy to install. Customer service at Mid Atlantic Water is always prompt and very helpful.
Assembaly instructions needed to avoide problems with poorly desigined 90deg NPT fitting.
1) The "o" ring and collar stop that needs to be assembled onto the 90deg NPT fitting should have better instructions. The provided diagram does not show necessary detail for correct assembly. When I called, you quickly sent me a photo that provided all necessary information....So why is that photo not part of the shipped product. (It could save you time answering ****** questions from people like me). 2) The threads on the 90deg NPT fitting are NOT milled correctly, and BOTH fittings cross threaded after 3 turns!....Your suppler should either get a new injection mold for the part, or provide instructions with adequate warring that the threads are fragile and not well tapered. .
Great Service, great product
Everything was great. Shipment was as promised and everything arrived well packed and nothing was missing. Install and install videos were easy to follow. Would highly recommend products. The only thing I did not use was the spin down filter as I already had a 50 micron down spin filter.
Works as advertised - quick delivery
Great pre-sales service. Answered all my questions quickly and professionally. Amazingly fast delivery. Ordered and then two days later a pallet arrived with the product. Installation was pretty easy and straight forward which was a good thing as there were not much in the way of instructions provided. One issue - the bypass valve was not included. But rather than check the website to see if it was supposed to (like I should have), I assumed that was the way it came and bought one separately.
SO Far So Good
It arrived quickly, in a very large heavy cardboard packing box. Our plumber installed it in ~3 hours. So far, it works great. We saved ~$1500.00 including installation, by buying online and hiring a plumber to install it. He had to cut and refit our copper pipes leading to the neutralizer.
Clack 2.5 Vortech Non Backwashing Acid Neutralizer
Uncomplicated and quick installation; Customer Support (AIden) answered our only question immediately and to the point. PH previously 5.9, now at 7.3. Wife is happy, I am happy.
So far it is working perfectly. It has been running for a week now. I am curious how this non-backwashing system will endure. I am on a well and ph was around 5, I did use flomag, but I do not think it was needed. Ph is higher than I expected. I only used 15lbs to 250lbs of calcite. I will not use flomag when I need to replenish calcite. I also wonder when calcite needs to be replenished, if I will need to wash the tank to clean any silt that gets past the 5 micron pre-filter.
No Fuss No Muss
I ordered rocks. I ordered, I got a call confirming my delivery from their delivery company, I was confused (my issue not theirs) and when I called them to verify, they treated me with respect. My Rocks got here. But I appreciated the professionalism. Too often that is lacking in this day and age.
